PODCAST YOUR MEMOIR
PODCAST YOUR MEMOIR!
When you write your memoir, how are you going to promote it? Facebook? Twitter? Book Signings? Book Talks?
One of the avenues you should consider is podcasting. What, you say? “I’m a technological dinosaur! I can’t even handle Twitter. Podcast my memoir? You’re kidding, right?”
Okay, so you can’t do it yourself. Neither can I. But there is someone out there who can do it for you, and he does it for FREE! What’s more, the way he does it it fantastic. He’s Simon Denman of READERS IN THE KNOW. That site itself, by the way, is one on which you should list your books. It’s based in England and has a huge subscriber base, along with lots of books. Yes, it does cost $50 a year to list up to 3 books there, but honestly, that’s peanuts. I get a lot of UK sales and I’m willing to bet many of those are coming via Readers in the Know.
Now, once you’re listed there, you have the chance of having your book read by Simon on his Podcast http://www.readersintheknow.com/podcast
Readers can subscribe FREE to Simon’s iTunes Channel directly from that link above. And let me tell you: one of the greatest thrills I’ve had with my book, “No Tears for my Father”, apart from winning that gold medal from Readers Favorite in 2014, has been listening to a podcast of a section from my memoir done by Simon Denman. What a beautiful reader’s voice he has! His interpretation of the emotion I felt as I poured out my true story of incest was so perfect. I don’t read my own books after I’ve written them. Suddenly, I was listening to what I had written 2 years earlier and it blew me away. I couldn’t believe I’d written it! It got me so excited that I’ve been toying on and off with paying Simon to do an audio recording of my entire book. Why not? Audiobooks are big these days.
But right now, I’m talking about the value of having your memoir podcast. I can tell you this much: sales of my book shot up in the 48 hours following Simon’s reading of my book. And it cost me nothing! It was free promotion. How can you beat that?
